Corps of Engineers initiates emergency permitting procedures

ST. PAUL, Minn. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, received approval from the Mississippi Valley Division to use emergency permitting procedures for areas impacted by recent flooding in northeastern Minnesota and northwestern Wisconsin July 16.

Citizens in need of a Corps permit for flood-related issues should call (800) 290-5847, extension 5525, or
e-mail floodresponsejune2012@usace.army.mil for more information.

The emergency permitting procedures include Section 404 of the Clean Water Act and Section 10 of the Rivers and Harbors Act. The Corps is coordinating its permit reviews with Federal Emergency Management Agency staff to expedite the process to the flood survivors.
