Published Aug. 26, 2020

ST. PAUL, Minn. –The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, released a draft Environmental Assessment, or EA, for proposed municipal water and sanitary sewer systems improvement project in Isle, Minnesota, Aug. 26.

The proposed project includes demolition of one water tower, rehabilitation of two existing wells and installation of 23 new fire hydrants along with the replacement and extension of water and sewer mains. The proposed work would largely take place within previously disturbed land and roadways, as the project footprint is within the city limits of Isle. The nature of the project would not result in any negative effects to threatened or endangered species within the construction area.

A draft EA that describes the project and the environmental impacts in detail is available to the public and can be viewed and downloaded from the St. Paul District website at: www.mvp.usace.army.mil/Home/PublicNotices.aspx.

Questions on the project or comments on the EA can be directed to LeeAnn Glomski, project biologist, at

651-290-5595 or LeeAnn.M.Glomski@usace.army.mil. Please address all formal written correspondence on this project to the St. Paul District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, ATTN: Regional Planning and Environment Division North, 180 5th St. E., Suite 700, St. Paul, MN 55101.

The city requested assistance for the replacement of their water distribution and sanitary sewer system from the U.S Army Corps of Engineers via Section 569 of the Water Resources Development Act of 1999, as amended.
