ST. PAUL, Minn. –The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, selected Paul Machajewski as one of its three Civil Servants of the Year for 2019.

The St. Paul District presents this award annually to the top three or four employees of its nearly 700-person staff. Machajewski, with 30 years of service with the federal government service, is the dredged material manager for the district.

Machajewski was nominated for the “Customer Service” award for serving on three teams to develop new dredged material management plans.

"I have never met an individual with more drive and determination to make others happy than Paul,” said Steve Tapp, St. Paul District channels and harbors branch chief and Machajewski’ s supervisor. “He's outgoing and quickly makes friends wherever he goes. He's very involved on several teams trying to resolve issues and most of the time there are very diverse and conflicting sides represented. Paul always seems to find a way to bond with everyone and hold things together so a solution can be found."

“I am truly shocked and humbled by this nomination,” said Machajewski. “I want to thank my past and current coworkers and supervisors who have taken me under their wings during my 30 years of federal service and helped shape me as a federal employee. I also want to thank my family for supporting me on this journey.”
