First responder demonstration at Lock and Dam 7
The St. Paul District staff conducted on-water orientation and demonstration Sept. 25, 2021, with area first responders that might be called upon to respond to a disabled boater at a lock and dam. The purpose for the Corps and first responders is to highlight roles and responsibilities of each organization during emergencies, explain restricted areas near our facilities and gain an understanding of how flow conditions create hazards at the dam. There were 25 participants across eight agencies: La Crosse Fire Dept, Wisc. DNR, Campbell Fire Dept., Winona County Dive and Rescue, Onalaska Fire Dept, La Crescent Fire Dept, La Crosse County Dive Unit and the Houston County Sherrif's Department.
