Rehab at Eau Galle
Winter maintenance throughout the St. Paul District continues at Eau Galle Recreation Area, where our contractor-partner is working in the 700-foot concrete conduit that allows water to flow from the reservoir to the Eau Galle River. To facilitate the rehab – which includes sandblasting and painting to preserve a 300-foot steel conduit liner – workers installed an alternative flow pipe (boxed-in by plywood in the photos), to create a safe workplace and minimize environmental impacts to the river. Maintenance here on this critical component of the Eau Galle Flood Risk Reduction project will provide downstream flood protection, specifically in Spring Valley, Wisconsin, for years to come.
