Corps takes first Lake Pepin ice measurements of the season
LAKE PEPIN, Minn -- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, took the first ice measurements of the season on Lake Pepin, near Red Wing, Minnesota, Feb. 17. The Corps takes the ice measurements week or biweekly as conditions warrant and share the information with the navigation industry. Navigation officials use the information to help predict when it is feasible to break the ice on the lake and begin shipping commodities to St. Paul, Minnesota.
